The foundation of which Psalm 149 Dance rests on

Reliant on Prayer

As believers we are called to pray. Prayer can look different for everyone, and it can be shift situationally. We believe that when our groaning is too deep for words, God hears us through whatever we have the capacity to offer Him in that moment. God already knows what is in our hearts, but prayer is that special gift that He uses to help us feel closer to Him in times of thanksgiving, healing, and in times of desperation. Looking at Jesus’ time on earth, we see that even God the Son prayed to the Father. God wants to know us and cares deeply for us, prayer allows us not only to connect with God but for God to connect with us.  At Psalm 149, we pray that God does something so big in and through us that we cannot possibly take the credit for it. We pray that Jesus is seen through our movement.

Ephesians 6:18, Jeremiah 29:12, Job 22:27

Psalm 96:3 says “Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the  peoples.” Through the teaching of dance and facilitation of exercise, we strive to show each person who walks through our doors how completely welcomed and loved they are by God, through how we love them. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus said “Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” As a company, we strive to do all the good we can to all the people we can,  because every living being was created in God’s image. As a ministry we are constantly looking for ways to give back to our community and beyond so that God’s love is felt by people everywhere.

Focused with Purpose

Fearlessly Lead by Christ

At Psalm 149 Dance, we strive to submit to the Lord whatever we do so that He will establish our plans. We believe in and strive to keep Christ in the center of all that we do. The Bible is God speaking, and when the Lord speaks, we listen. We believe that God gave us community to understand Him better, and the more we learn about and welcome in His people, the more of Him we get to see and understand. God’s word is the love letter he wrote to us, and the more we understand it, the more clearly we can see who we were made to be. From the very beginning of even the conceptualization of this studio, we have stepped boldly wherever the Lord has guided us, and our prayer is that we will continue to do so for as long as God blesses us with the opportunity to share His love to His people through the art of dance.

Colassians 3:11 says “Christ is all, and in all.” There were and are no conditions. Because you live, you bear the image of God. Psalm 149 Dance welcomes and pursues people of all walks of life because we know that every single person is part of the body of Christ. We believe that, just as different body parts have different functions but are still important to the body as a whole, every person that walks through our doors plays an important role in our ministry. Each person was created with God’s unique vision for his/her appearance, personality, skill set, and life journey, and because of this Psalm 149 celebrates the differences among our members.

Bold Pursuit of God’s People

All of God’s people.

We will not turn anyone away.

God is Worthy of Our Art

We believe that we are the light of the world. We fully intend to use the gifts God gave us to glorify and praise Him. At Psalm 149, we believe that God made us each fearfully and wonderfully so we strive daily to shine the light of truth by using our God-give talents to share the story of Jesus Christ to others around us in hopes to show others the love of Christ, but also provide another way to worship. “There’s something about dancing, because when you move your body you’re literally telling your body come under what the Lord is doing in this room right now.” Sometimes you just have to “look at Him, tell Him that He’s good and dance it off.” God is worthy of all our praise and all our art.

Psalm 139:14, Matthew 5:14-16, “Beauty + Ashes” by UPPERROOM

We believe that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made by a loving and powerful Heavenly Father. We are all created in God’s image; His favorite work of art, knit together and formed to be uniquely beautiful. We believe in honoring that creation through movement and physical activity. God has each of us here at a specific time for an intended purpose. Here at Psalm 149 dance we believe in the importance of taking care of the gift that God has given us so that we may live to fully serve Him for as long as possible. We believe that not only is God worthy of our art and our praise, He is also worthy of our health and our fitness. The amount of benefits (emotionally, spiritually, and physically) that come from exercise can empower you to be bold in your pursuit of God’s calling on your life, and we believe it is our calling to partner with you on that journey through personal training, yoga, fitness classes, dance and more. We don’t want to waste a moment of our time here on earth and believe in the importance of personal health.

We Believe in Honoring God’s Creation
